Uswetakeiyawa Beach

We took an Uber about 30 minutes north to Uswetakeiyawa Beach. It has a few swimmable areas, but we're more interested in walking barefoot on the beach instead of swimming so this one is perfect for us. There were lots of big crashing waves on rocks, which caused us to take thousands of pictures. Well ok, I only took about 150 pictures and here's about 50 of those. We do have to show some constraint, don't we?

There didn't seem to be very many access points from the road for the beach because it was blocked by houses. We had a good long walk until we had to go out to the road because there was a rocky area on the beach that we couldn't easily pass.

There weren't many people along much of our stroll because of the houses, so this was a nice quiet beach for a long walk. The views here are very worthwhile so I'm sure we'll be back several times over the next three years.

The beach terrain forced us back to the road for a little bit, but it was also at a spot on the road to see a Catholic Church

Now back to our regularly scheduled program at the beach...

I found a restaurant on the map where we could stop for a late lunch. The location overlooking the ocean was nice, the decorations were fun, and the food was good. It made for a great ending to a nice little adventure that wasn't too far from home.

It was easy getting an Uber from the city with our usual wait of a couple of minutes, but we had to wait about 15 minutes for an Uber to pick us up out here and take us home. It was a relaxing day, so we weren't in a rush. Uber is still much nicer than driving ourselves. It isn't just the traffic, it's also that they drive on the left side here.

I've driven on the left side for a week in Cyprus, so I know that I don't want to rewire my aging brain to driving on the "wrong" side of the road for three years here. I just know that would increase my odds of getting confused when I get back to driving at home.

I was on the canal side of the car for the ride back, so here's a few pics through the window of the long canal near the coast.
