Lavtian National Museum of Art

We've already been to the main building of the Latvian National Museum of Art (Latvijas Nacionālais mākslas muzejs) but I didn't blog about it then because the rooftop terrace wasn't open. There's several other buildings and you can get an annual pass to the whole museum system which is a great bargain if you're planning to see them all. Here's a look at this grand building in the summer with the view from the rooftop.

Go to basement for any special exhibit to walk down a ramp built next to their massive storage vault with racks and racks of paintings. It's 2 stories tall and the walkway slopes beside it:

There was a modern art exhibit about the environment which was moderately interesting

The disc above with random metal bits caused the random noises in the video

The special display on the top 2 floors was about art taken out of the country for preservation during World War II and brought back. The top floor has some areas with glass floors where you can see down and they can see up.

The rest of this shows various pictures of Latvian art from old to modern. I'm more partial to modern art so it has that slant and I didn't take so many pictures since we'd been through these before.
