We hired a tour company to take us around the popular parts of Sri Lanka for a week. We started by heading to Kandy in the central mountain area for the first night. We saw an elephant sanctuary along the way and a traditional dance show on arrival in Kandy. The amazing view above was from our room after a long day of driving and seeing stuff.
Our trip happened several weeks after a cyclone devastated parts of Sri Lanka and we had arranged it many weeks before the cyclone. Our tour guide assured us it would be good to go and support the area with tourism. Some roads were single lane and undergoing repairs, but it didn't end up slowing us down very much. The trip was still enjoyable and we had many interesting experiences including the understandably popular Ella train ride. Some of the road trip views from the van are sprinkled throughout.
