Sri Lanka can be hot and humid like any tropical island nation, but the tea country is another story. What a wonderful story it is in the cooler mountains. We spent the latest long weekend having a driver take us about 4-5 hours aways to higher elevations. The Farm Resorts is a quiet refuge with comfortable rooms, amazing views, and a delicious little restaurant. It was a great break from the humid seaside city of Colombo.
We probably could have arranged sightseeing tours around the area, but we just wanted a quiet weekend together to relax. We enjoyed two mornings of kayaking, strolled the beautiful grounds around the tea plantation, and spent an afternoon painting landscapes together. The resort provides painting supplies and easels for a modest fee.
Our chosen painting time coincided with an afternoon shower, so that was lucky. It was a great use of the covered balcony overlooking the small reservoir lake. The reservoir level was low ahead of the upcoming monsoon rain season. It revealed interesting natural steps carved by the water into the banks and some side areas of dried lake beds which added something a little more interesting to the scenary.
Enough words since the pictures speak more. Let's start with lunch at their little restaurant with a view. There's only 7 rooms available in the chalets, so it's a small resort which can't get too overcrowded. This was an excellent place to chill both literally and figuratively with the pleasant days and the nights down into the 60s F.

| Stopped at a restroom which overlooked a river. I took a pic of the river and not the restroom. I have priorities and the first priority was to use the restroom and then admire the river. |
