Bali is a beautiful place. It's also very well known, so it can be overly touristy and crowded. The narrow roads around Ubud can't handle the traffic, so expect to sit in a traffic a lot. Fortunately, there's a lot to see and and do, so it's still worthwhile to join the tourist herd and experience some of this natural beauty and facinating architecture.
We hiked (or more generally strolled) down the ridge trail from our resort to the town. We took the resort shuttle back up later in day because we're not crazy. Here's some views of the cute and quiet dead end area at the top of the ridge by our resort as we walked down to the chaos of tourism. |

Antonio Blanco was a painter who settled in Bali. He has this beautiful museum developed from his house there, so we had to check that out.

Pics aren't allowed in the museum. Many of the paintings are of nude women, so keep that in mind with who you'd bring here. This is a pic that was allowed in the workshop at the end. |
Back to Ubud and my attempts to not show too many people or cars. Yes, I intentionally mislead you into thinking this isn't a generally crowded place because I don't want to remember all of the people and cars, so I wait a little for a break in the traffic.

ok, here's a look at the people that I try to avoid |

I try to get pics without the people, but some things are hard to get a completely unobstructed view from the angle I may want. |
