We visited Bali for a week in order to start exploring Asia from Sri Lanka. It wasn't too far with a 3 hour flight to Kuala Lumpur, a 3 hour layover, and then another 3 hour flight to Bali at a resonable price. This would have been a much bigger trip from the U.S., so that's why we travel around the area we're currently living.
We arrived around midnight, so we stayed by the airport in a Holiday Inn Express. This gave us the morning in Kuta before we took a Grab car (like Uber) to Ubud. We wanted to stay most of the week in Ubud for this trip. We started with breakfast, which was good for a Holiday Inn Express, in a much nicer environment than other Holiday Inn Express hotels that we've stayed in the U.S. If we were staying longer, then we'd stay at a nicer beach resort, but this worked well for a night close to the airport.

Patung Triratna Amreta Bhuwana |
"Triratna Amertha Bhuwana is a spiritual masterpiece on a Bali beach, symbolizing the harmony of humans, nature, and God through three iconic statues. Kanjeng Ratu Manik Kencana Sari Dewi reflects the strength of the sea, while Dewi Kwam Im embodies universal compassion. The tallest statue, Hyang Mahaurip, symbolizes sanctity and wisdom." budayabali.com

We had lunch by the beach and then ordered a car to Ubud. More posts to follow. Here's a couple of pics taken from the car.
