Here's a little look at our furnished apartment in Colombo, Sri Lanka. It's a little smaller than our last place, but it compares well to our previous apartments with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The unique thing about our new home is that it's in a hotel. The hotel has similarly sized apartments setup as daily rate hotel suites alongside their long-term residences like us.
We don't have a view of the iconic Lotus Tower, but we do have a great southerly view of the city, a lake, and the ocean off in the distance. We can always lounge by the pool or work out in the gym and see the Lotus Tower, so that's a benefit of living in this hotel building.
We'll have to get used to sharing our apartment building with the hotel guests and not feel like we're just hotel guests ourselves. I think I'll continue to have an odd feeling that we're permanent hotel guests. I don't know if I'll feel like we're fully home when we pass through the hotel lobby and use the same amenities. We'll see. The apartment is already starting to feel like home and it's fairly well sound proofed from the neighbors, so maybe that odd transitory feeling will pass.
Here's home for the next 3 years!

I guess I should have turned off the living room light, but it's a cool reflection on our primary view of the world for the next 3 years

The TV is on loan for the months until our own stuff arrives but the furniture is permanent for us. |

the window is to our private service hallway, which isn't climate controlled |
that's a housekeeper bathroom
you see the last of the daylight behind the equipment because it's open to the outside
There's a separate and locked service door to our apartment for a housekeeper or anyone else to enter. We can lock the kitchen door too to isolate this area. It's an interesting layout.
what could be a housekeeper's sleeping room was thankfully turned into storage with shelves
master bedroom with lots of closets and a bathtub in the nice en suite
hallway bathroom with shower
a very small guest room with closets
a longer bedroom setup as an office
The View
It's an interesting looking city so we like our views. I ended up taking more detailed photos of our view when it was overcast because we didn't have access to our balcony until we signed a liability waiver. Overcast skies come and go, so here's the dreary version.

it's harder to see at our angle, but the building in the middle has two towers with far side of it made to look like it leans against the other tower |
