Ha Long Bay Vietnam - Day 2

We had an included excursion for the second day which would have been on a tour boat which took the same route as the boat that took us kayaking. We canceled that and went to town on our own instead, which was much better than wasting a day on a repeated experience. Fortunately we figured this out on our own.

The skies were overcast again, but that made it a little cooler and easier to walk around. I love that you can see a bunch of these islets from the city too.

We wandered around the city a bit, went back to the ship for our included excellent lunch buffet, and then headed back out to ride the cable car and the huge Ferris wheel. We made it back to the ship with about an hour to spare before we departed for our final port in Hong Kong.

The Queen Cable Car was full of Chinese tourists on our way over and nearly empty on our way back. Queen Cable Car holds two Guinness World Records: the highest passenger capacity in a cable car cabin and the tallest cable car tower. The double-decker cabins can hold up to 230 passengers. One of its suspension towers reaches a height of 188.88 meters (619 feet).

we were definitely high up

The Sun Wheel in Ha Long Bay is one of the highest Ferris wheels in the world, perched atop Ba Deo Hill at 215 meters above sea level. It has 215 m (705 ft) in total height with a 115 m diameter. There are 64 cabins, holding up to 6 people each. Here's the view.
