Latvia 100 Celebration Fireworks

Latvia celebrated their centenary or 100 years since the Republic of Latvia was established. The day was filled with concerts and parades. It ended with a massive fireworks and light show on the river. It looked like all of Riga was on the riverfront.

We saw some of the concert at the Freedom Monument before moving to the river to try to get a decent spot. There was another stage by the river but we weren't very close to it. The speakers setup near our area weren't very loud near the river. That didn't matter much because the fireworks and light show were a huge spectacle.

The use of spotlights definitely added to the massive fireworks show and pushed it over the top. It lasted 20 minutes and I took some video clips at various times to share here. You can skip straight to the last clip and the finale at the bottom if you're impatient but there's many cool moments in the other clips.

the entire riverside was packed with people but we were early enough to be near the water

the orchestra stage was far off with some speakers nearby us but it was a little hard to hear until the crowd became relatively quiet for the fireworks
