We started the day in the cool mountains of Ella. Our trip concluded with a lovely beach sunset in Mirissa. It could have been remarkably hotter, but it was an overcast day with some rain. It didn't end up being that drastic of a change in environments on this tropical island nation.

good zoom on my phone for a distant waterfall which is different than the one we saw on the day before

looking for a sunrise but it was too cloudy

Christmas lights hanging from the floor above our room

This is a peacock who quickly crossed the road (to get to the other side?) and ducked (or peacocked?) quickly into the bushes, so this is the only pic.

see the bird taking a ride?
A nice end to a wonderful trip until I woke up the next day with a bad cold. Life isn't perfect all of the time. I had this problem at the end of our Bali trip too. I hope it isn't becoming a reliable trend.
My wife and step-daughter had a nice time on a whale watching trip before we checked out. They saw dolphins and the spray of a whale. We stopped at a mask carving museum/store and I passed on going in but I hear it was nice. We stopped at a sea turtle sanctuary that was interesting so I felt like I should try to check it out, but I didn't feel like taking pictures.
The memories of a nice sunset are the visual end of this tale. I'll just pretend the sick day on the way back to Colombo was just a slightly bad and annoying dream because the rest of the trip was a very nice time.
