Negombo Sri Lanka

Negombo is a town near the airport. It's about an hour drive north of where we live with several beach hotels, which seem to be convenient for people at the airport. We decided to spend two nights at one for an easy get away from the city. It made for a nice little break with very little travel effort.

Jetwing Blue was a nice hotel with a good restaurant and a view of the beach. The pool was big and nice with some interesting seats in a shallow part of the pool. I'm not sure if the beach was swimmable since we didn't see anyone doing it, but we're not big for ocean swimming anyway. The pool was enough for us.

The highlight of our day in Negombo was a two hour canal tour to show us some of the beautiful scenery and various birds along the wilder parts of waterways. We also saw a couple of big monitor lizards. It was a relaxing little boat trip.

First, here's the hotel and the first evening's sunset through overcast skies. There was a little rain each evening because the rainy season wasn't quite over yet.
