We started our last day in Bali with a walk down many stairs in the cliff to the Padang Padang Beach before it got crowded. It was a beautiful beach and the
shooting location for the beach scenes in the movie
Eat, Pray, Love. We ended the day at the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park.
The
Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park has some very large statues including Indonesia's tallest statue. It's the one pictured above of the Hindu god Vishnu on the mythical bird Garuda who became his companion. The signs claimed it was the fourth tallest statue in the world. However, Wikipedia has it #16 on their
list of tallest statues. It's #4 if you include the pedestal building which does help make it a very tall structure.
First, here's our trip down to the beach for a little swim and to watch the surfers before too many tourists filled the beach and the shade was disappearing. I usually need and crave shade instead of sun.

I caught a few pics of boards flying away from surfers. It's easier than surfing. |

Back to the resort for our last night in Bali...
There were some nice cloud views on the flight to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia before we connected back to our home in Colombo, Sri Lanka. We landed in KL with a rainbow, which seemed like a fitting end to this trip of natural beauty.
