We started exploring Asia from Sri Lanka by visiting Bali for a week. It wasn't too far with a 3 hour flight to Kuala Lumpur, a 3 hour layover, and then another 3 hour flight to Bali at a resonable price. That's why we travel around our area because this would have been a much bigger trip from the U.S.
We arrived around midnight so we stayed by the airport in a Holiday Inn Express. This gave us the morning in Kuta before we took a Grab car (like Uber) to Ubud where we wanted to stay most of the week. We started with breakfast, which was good for a Holiday Inn Express, in a much nicer environment than other hotels of this brand that we've stayed in the U.S. If we were staying longer, then we'd stay at a nicer beach resort, but this worked well for a night close to the airport.

Patung Triratna Amreta Bhuwana |
"Triratna Amertha Bhuwana is a spiritual masterpiece on a Bali beach, symbolizing the harmony of humans, nature, and God through three iconic statues. Kanjeng Ratu Manik Kencana Sari Dewi reflects the strength of the sea, while Dewi Kwam Im embodies universal compassion. The tallest statue, Hyang Mahaurip, symbolizes sanctity and wisdom." budayabali.com

We had lunch at a restaurant by the beach and then we ordered a car to Ubud. More posts to follow. Here's a couple of pics taken from the car.
